The National Association for Protected Persons (NAPP) was born from a profound recognition that vulnerable individuals and their families needed a powerful advocate in an increasingly complex guardianship system. Founded in 2025 as a Private Membership Association, NAPP emerged from years of witnessing families struggle against systemic challenges, procedural failures, and constitutional violations within guardianship proceedings.
Our Foundation was built upon the constitutional principles established in landmark Supreme Court cases, including NAACP v. Alabama (1958) and NAACP v. Button (1963), which recognized that associations have the fundamental right to advocate for their members' constitutional rights through collective action. Drawing inspiration from these precedents, our founders understood that protecting vulnerable persons required an organization that could operate with the full force of First Amendment protections.
Our Genesis stems from direct experience with the guardianship system's failures—families separated from loved ones, due process violations, and the erosion of fundamental rights under the guise of protection. Recognizing that traditional approaches often left families powerless and isolated, our founders envisioned an association that would combine constitutional protections with practical advocacy, creating a shield against systemic abuse while empowering members with knowledge and resources.
Our Legal Framework is rooted in decades of Supreme Court jurisprudence protecting private associations. From Roberts v. United States Jaycees (1984) to Boy Scouts of America v. Dale (2000), the courts have consistently upheld the right of private membership associations to pursue their mission without government interference. NAPP stands on this solid constitutional foundation, ensuring that our advocacy work remains protected and effective.
Our Evolution reflects a deep understanding that meaningful change requires both individual empowerment and collective action. We have developed comprehensive educational resources, training programs, and support networks that transform how families approach guardianship challenges. Our private membership structure ensures that we can provide candid guidance and aggressive advocacy without the constraints imposed on public organizations.
Our Impact extends beyond individual cases to systemic reform. Through our protected status as a Private Membership Association, we have been able to document patterns of abuse, develop innovative advocacy strategies, and create resources that empower families to effectively challenge improper guardianship proceedings. Our work contributes to a growing national conversation about the need for fundamental reform in how society protects its most vulnerable members.
Our Legacy is being written daily through every family we empower, every right we help protect, and every vulnerable person whose voice is preserved. NAPP represents a new paradigm in advocacy—one that combines constitutional protections with practical solutions, ensuring that the promise of due process and individual liberty extends to all Americans, regardless of their capacity challenges.
Founded on the principle that guardianship should truly be a last resort, NAPP continues to evolve and adapt while maintaining unwavering commitment to our core mission: ensuring that every vulnerable person retains their fundamental rights and that families have the tools they need to protect their loved ones within our constitutional framework.
